True, it offers different and challenging hikes, terrain ranging from hilly to swampy and a large lake, the park is infested with weekend hikers, bike riders and horses. That’s right: a major portion of the park is open to horses.”

New Jersey’s Appalachian Trail – Wawayanda State Park: “I found the Wawayanda Mtn a steep climb up; however, the path has many swaybacks to reduce the climb rate. The lowest section was entered over a small fallowed field. At the very bottom of the mountain, large sections of the upper cliff face, the size of cars, had fallen to the bottom. The feeling of walking through these large chucks of debris rocks is surely strange feeling particularly for NJ.”
